In addition to the information above, submitting authors will be asked to:
  1. Indicate if the preprint has been submitted to a journal or book. This information can be updated at any time. Authors can  link a preprint to a published paper using the Update Publication Info link on the content’s page.Further information is in the FAQ’s.
  2. Select a license for the posting on ESSOAr. Authors otherwise retain copyright to their work. Four license types are offered.. The non-exclusive license grants posting of content on ESSOAr but restricts other uses. Regardless of the selected license types, authors consent to text mining of their work including by search engines or researchers and indexing and enrichment by ESS Open Archive
  3. Select keywords for their submission Tagging allows faceted search and targeted email alerts for readers.
Submitting a Meeting Presentation (Poster, e-Poster, Slide Deck, or Recording)
Submitting a meeting presentation is identical to that of a preprint but some additional information is required. For some meetings, direct transfer of submission data from the meeting content management system is possible. Otherwise, please:
  1. Navigate to the meeting via its name on the ESS Open Archive homepage. The meeting date will be automatically included. Eligible meetings are identified and approved by the Advisory and Editorial boards. To nominate meetings, contact support@essoar.org and include information about the meeting, society sponsors, contact information for the organizers, and link to the program and abstracts. Submissions will usually only be allowed within six months of the meeting date.
  2. Enter the session identifier and title
  3. Enter the presentation identifier used at the meeting.
  4. Enter the date of the presentation during the meeting
The presentation must be submitted as a single PDF file that includes machine-readable text (that is, not as a picture of the poster). Posters created on online poster sites and/or presented at a meeting as an e-poster, in HTML or another format, should be converted to and uploaded as a single PDF file, and the online version can or should be included as a supplemental link. Slide presentations should be saved as a PDF file.
Managing your submissionServices are being developed by publishers that will also indicate earlier preprint versions on the final paper. This requires the title and authors to be matched in Crossref's database. This will be most successful if you update your draft submission with later versions or revisions that accurately indicate the title. Otherwise, authors can link a publication in the preprint or poster via the Update Submission Info link on the content’s page when you are logged in.
Uploading a new version
From “My Documents”, you can make a change to a published preprint and then click the Publish button to submit it for a second round of review before publishing. You will be able to update all data including collaborator information, supplements, or links. The version history is preserved on ESSOAr. All submission criteria apply to any new version.
