I am an avid bird watcher and have been the coordinator and primary observer of a fall Hawkwatch in Massachusetts for over twenty years. I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Costa Rica from 1993-96. Following my service, I regularly visit the country and after retirement bought a house there. Since then, I have generally spent most of the winter and summer in Costa Rica. I have been conducting regular surveys of the birds in my town there, and In 2020 I began a systematic study of birds visiting and/or feeding in two tropical trees, Gumbo Limbo and Huevos de Caballo (its name in Spanish). This study is ongoing during the winter months.
